ShieldProbe and a pentest consultancy
ShieldProbe Assess is a pentest of your web apps, APIs, networks and servers: AI runs the testing and a named consultant approves every finding. Compare that, and what happens after the report, with your current proposal.
For agreed scope once access is ready, under your engagement terms.
How ShieldProbe handles each step
AI tests your agreed targets, roles and workflows from our own attack infrastructure. The report states what was out of reach.
A named consultant approves each finding before you see it, with the request and response your team needs to reproduce it.
Fix drafts the code change for your developers. Retests of confirmed findings are included; new scope is agreed separately.

Physical security, social engineering, hardware and bespoke red teams.
Web, API, network and server pentests, internal or external, when you need results in days rather than weeks and retests through the year.
Firms such as Bishop Fox, NCC Group and the Big 4 offer a wide range of services, so details vary by engagement. More on PTaaS vs traditional pentesting, how a pentest is scoped and quoted and what a 48-hour pentest needs.

| Compared on | Pentest consultancy | ShieldProbe |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | Broad: application, infrastructure, red-team, physical and social-engineering work, depending on the firm. | Web, API, network and server pentesting, internal or external. Black-box across all of them; grey-box for web apps and APIs. |
| Testing and review | Consultants test by hand within a booked window. A lead consultant reviews the findings and signs the report. | AI runs the testing, then a named consultant approves each finding before you can see it. The platform will not release a finding without that approval. |
| Delivery | Often 6 to 8 weeks from booking to final report, depending on consultant availability. | 48 hours for agreed scope once access is ready. |
| Retests | Sometimes included, often quoted separately. | Retests of confirmed findings for 12 months under your engagement terms. New scope is agreed separately. |
| Remediation | Remediation guidance in the report, with workshops or engineering support on some engagements. | Fix drafts the code change in VS Code or Visual Studio (beta) for your developers to review. Defend, sold separately, protects supported findings in Node.js apps while the fix ships, starting in log-only mode. |
| Audit use | An independent report used as evidence in audits. | A consultant-approved report that supports your audit. It does not certify your organization, and acceptance is your auditor’s decision. |

That decision is your auditor’s. The report sets out scope, methodology, the approving consultant and reproducible evidence for each finding. You can share the sample report with them during scoping.
No. Defend protects supported findings while your developers fix the code. A retest with Defend switched off confirms the fix itself.
At least once a year and after significant changes, which is also what PCI DSS asks of internal and external pentests. Applications that change often benefit from testing more frequently.
